DEFECTIVE NOTICE.
UNDER THE HOUSING ACT. CITY COUNCIL TO PAY COSTS. (By Telegrapb.—press Association.) AUCKLAND, Wednesday. Holding that the notice had not been properly served, Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., in tlie Magistrate's Court to-day dismissed a charge against J. W. Payne of Ponsonby w ot obstructing two officers under the housing act in the execution of their powers to enter a house. The magistrate said that the author- ! ities which the two Inspectors car- I ried had been signed by tlie City i Engineer ami not by the local authority as required by the act. Every- j tiling must be done strictly in accordance with the Act. The charge was dismissed, and ! cost £1 J/- were awarded against the Council
