As Arohena has virtually won the local competition the game between this team and Putaruru was played at Glenshea Park In a friendly spirit on Saturday. Arohena won by 18 points to 3. Putaruru for a while dominated the play, Vallance kicking and .running well. Putaruru’s inside backs were not strong enough to feed the wings, who played individually. Arohena forwards did not play as well a 3 previously, lacking concerted effort. Their backs handled Me ball to advantage. Uden, Prendergast, and Yates were Impressive players for the visiting Though Putaruru were short at the commencement they had the better of play for a while, Arohena appearing to be unprepared. They kept pressing on the visitors' 25 and completed their efforts when Vallance kicked a nice penalty goal. Almost immediately Arohena replied to carry the play to Putaruru’s goal line where Yates (Arohena five-eighth), kicked a penalty. Then followed back play and .Nathan (Arohena wing), took the ball to Putaruru’s goal line, where T. Uden scored a converted try. On resumption Arohena attacked and rrom the ruck Prendergast (five-eighths), cut In strongly to score a converted try. Play was now mostly in Me home team’s 2 5 with Arohena thrusting with . their backs to the goal line. Yates followed up a short punt to score a converted try. Several times Arohena set the backs moving, Yates, Prendergast and Forsyth handling smartly but there was no further score.
