The discovery that the car waa missing was made by the owner about 2.45 a.m., but no trace was found of the vehicle until it was found abandoned on the Cambridge-Hamilton Road, about four miles from Cambridge Just near the Pukeroro dairy factory, this morning. Fence Ripped Down. The climax of what appears to have been an exciting drive was apparently reached just beyond the borough boundary, about a mile from the Cambridge Town Hall, where the vehicle careered off the road and crashed into a fence, smashing about three chains of it before coming to a standstill. The commotion attracted the attention of two young men, who hurried to the scene to assist the driver to return his vehicle to the road. After e little trouble the damaged vehiole was extrioated from the fencing. Meanwhile the driver was in a hurry to move on. The two men who assisted were unaware that the car was a converted one, but they noticed that the driver had cuts on the head and hand. When the car was righted it was driven off towards Hamilton. Near the Pukororo factory the vehiole crashed ag&lr and the driver apparently decided W discontinue the journey. The police are investigating and consider it probable that the driver wa t given a ride to Hamilton with som< passing motorist. If any person did convey a man from that vicinity to Hamilton early this morning he is requested to communicate with tht police.
