YOUNQBTERB COMING ALONG. PROGRESS OF GAY AND GOLD. (Special to Times.) TE AROHA, Friday. Under the handling process for Mr J. B. Johnson, of Herriesville, are a brown colt by Acre from Amans Queen, therefore a half brother to the wellperformed (King's Archer, and a rising two-year-old filly by Acre from a fullsister to King’s Archer, by Marble Arch—Amans Queen. The colt, rising three years, is especially well developed and built on galloping lines, while tho filly, although not so robust In con- [ stitutlon, shows thoroughbred quality. The Spear Dance gelding, Hill Billy, made his first appearance, under colours at the Opotikl fixture, and for a first race ran fairly well. He appears to be all the better for the outing. Queen Lu disappointed her stable connections at Tauranga, where she started twice. Later on she may probably be tried over distances of a mile and nine furlongs. The rising two-year-old oolt by Vaals—Blllikins, recently purchased by Mr J. Whitten, Is developing very satisfactorily, and will he put Into work within the next few weeks. Gay and Gold Is now being sent along at a faster gait on the tracks by J. H. Wallace. She Is fining down nicely, and should be ready to race early in the new’ racing season. For the next racing season Mr R. R. Hines, no\v located at Waihou, will have In commission Master Rrierly. Black Musk, Kingcraft and a rising two-year-old filly by King Lu—Lady Rrierly, a full sister lo Miss Lu and King Rrierly. This quartette is wintering well. The Surveyor mare In E. A. (Keesing’s stable is gradually getting Into racing shape. King Musk, a member of the team. Is still spending most of his time in the paddock, but is ready to be re-commissioned at any time.
