DRAMA FESTIVAL.
WAIKATO EABT AREA.. GREAT SUCCESS AT MATAMATA. The drama festival of the Waikato East Area of the Women’s Institute was held at Matamata this week, and was a great success. The hall was crowded on each of the two nights and the audiences were very enthusiastic. The quality of the work was high. The judge, Mr A. E. Manning, gave his awards as follows: Hinuera "A” (“ The Pacifist ”) .. i Hinuera “B” (“A Marriage Has Been Disarranged”) 2 Waharoa (“ The -Bride ” 3 Walton (“Women at War”) .. h.oThe judge commented on the high standard attained at the festival and congratulated the Women’s Institute on the manner in -which it had added to tiie amenities of country life. The winning team had given an excellent representation, all tiie players being in character. Mrs Robinson had given an outstanding performance. Dean T. P. Weatlierhog (president) and Mrs J. Prenton (secretary), of the British Drama League, were present at the first night’s performance. Warm appreciation of this visit was expressed by Mrs Wade, organiser of the festival.
