NEW; ZEALAND CRICKETERS 3Bsr~ .... NORFOLK BEATEN. KERR’S BRILLIANT INNINGS. (From the Special Correspondent of the United Press Association with the team.) (Received June 25, 3.15 p.m.) NORWICH, June 24. When the cricket match between New Zealand and Norfolk was concluded to-day, the tourists were victorious by eight wickets. After scoring 165 in their first- innings, the home team made 123 runs in their second to which New Zealand replied in their second outing with 167 for two wickets having scored 122 in their first innings. New Zealand played more like a touring team should against a minor county. Dunning and Weir bowled well, many runs coming from mishits that sped to thje boundary on the fast outfield. Tn this expensive misfortune fellow sufferers were Roberts and Gallichan. The fielding was keen, runouts resulting from fast throws. Kerr Brilliant. Kerr and Hadlee for New Zealand scored at a brisk pace, against bowling that yesterday they were seemingly unable to handle. Kerr was brilliant, driving, cutting, and gliding speedy bowlers with never a fault. Lamason was more like the player known to New Zealand while Hadlee and Weir swelled the large leg before list. Kerr hit 11 fours, Including four In one over. He appeared certain to reach his century but two balls going to the boundary for byes spoilt his chance. The attendance was about 3000. Roberts, who damaged his finger when attempting a catch may not play In the first test. NORFOLK. First Innings 1*65 Second Innings. B, W. A possible explanation of thd New Zealanders’ batting oollapse against Norfolk yesterday was sheer physical tiredness. A full day’s fielding In a hot sun and on hard ground at Nottingham was followed by a five hours bus ride at night to Norwich which was reached nearly at midnight. That was succeeded by another morning’s fielding in great heat against Norfolk. The difficulty of arranging the tour to be both comprehensive and comfortable is immense. The team faces an almost uninterrupted sequence of playing and travelling with many tiring night journeys. The free day before Saturday’s test match will be a welcome relaxation.
