LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. The following local observations on the weather are supplied by Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, Limited, Hamilton: Barometer. Thumday’ 29.40 Friday 29.70 Thermometer. Max. Min. Wednesday 59 52 Thursday 61 51 Mean Temperature, 56 deg. The barometer reads 29.70 and is rising. Indications are for continued unsettled weather to-day and possibly to-morrow, with lower temperature, easterly winds prevailing and heavy rain. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’clock this morning, .14in. Rainfall for previous 24 hours. .46in. Rainfall for June to date, 2.621 n. Average rainfall for June, 5.191 n. Rainfall for year to date, 23.25in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.321 n. BPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the Walk&toThnmes Valley Is as follows: Forecast: Moderate to stroftg south-easterly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with passing showers but improving slowly. Temperatures cold. Seas moderate in coastal waters, but rather rough to rough off shore. General Inference: The cyclone responsible for the present spell of stormy weather is passing away eastwards. An Intense anticyclone centred over Tasmania extends across the Tasman Se'a on to southern New Zealand and pressure has risen considerably over the Dominion.
