BRITISH-ISRAEL MOVEMENT.

Sir, —The late Grattan Guinness, Doctor of Divinity, wrote a book nearly 40 years before the last Great War, “On the Time Measure as Given by the Prophet Daniel,” in which he stated that Palestine would be restored to Israel In 1917 (not Judall). We now know to-day that a great nation and a company of nations gained the victory over Esau, “the Turk, Edom.” Is not this sufficient to convince any believer that Great Britain Is indeed T srael, the great nation and company of nations? Then we have the prophet Esdras, one of the greatest prophets of Judah after the captivity. Esdras sees the same vision as all the chief prophets—the great final war, the judgment of the nations and their destruction. Afterwards 11. Esdras xiii, 29: “And whereas thou sawest that he gathered a great peaceable multitude unto him; these are the ten tribes (not Judah) which were carried away prisoners out of their own land in the time of Osea the King, whom Salmanasar, the King of Assyra, led captive, and he carried them over thj waters, and so came they to another land. But they took this counsel among themselves that they would leave the multitude of the heathen and go forth to a further country where never mankind dwelt, that they might keep their statutes, whioh they never kept in their own land. And they entered Into the Euphrates by the narrow passage of the river, for the Most High then showed signs for them and held still the floods till they were passed over, for through that country there was a great way to go; namely, a year and a half; and the same region is called Arsareth; then dwelt they there until a later time, when they shall begin to come,” eto. This shows clearly that ten-trlbed Israel did not go back with the Jews under Esra to rebuild the Temple at Jerusalem.

I hope an abler pen than mine will continue to contribute further light on this Important subject.—l am, etc., W. H. ALLEN. Tirau, June 19.
