THIEF’S PLANS FAIL.

CAMBRIDGE BURGLARY. STATIONER’S SHOP ENTERED. (Speolal to Times.) CAMBRIDGE, Saturday. Some time last night a thief entered the stationery and fancy goods premises of Mr G. R. Haworth toy means of a skylight hut. after collecting a good swag of goods he was baulked to some extent by finding tooth back and front doors padlocked. The thief, therefore, had to go out the way he entered, with only a small portion of the stock he had accumulated. On arriving at the shop this morning Mr Haworth found the glass of a skylight removed, the’ thief having dropped down to the floor after gaining entrance toy piling boxes against a back wall. A window had also been opened and footprints showe'd where someone had endeavoured to scramble out without success. The thief must have felt for a time that he was trapped in the shop, but a stepladder enabled him to reach the broken skylight. A quantity of goods was found heaped in one' corner and the intruder had evidently used a pram to convey his selection from one part of the building to the other.

This morning Mr Haworth had not definitely ascertained the amount of goods missing, but it is certain the thief took several sets of enamel ware.
