Miles, G. R. Hutchinson and Bradshaw (Auckland), are at the Hamilton Hotel. • * * * Mrs Wreford Brown, wife of the manager of the English Association football team, arrived in New Zealand this week. She Is the only lady travelling with the team.

Miss M. C. Jellie, of the teaching staff, was granted three months’ leave of absence, for health reasons, at the meeting of the Hamilton High School Board of Governors yesterday. The matter of appointing a relieving mistress was left to the acting-principal, Mr H. D. T*it.

Mrs C. W. Turner, of Te Aroha, will leave from Auckland by the Mission Steamer “Southern Cross” on Wednesday on its customary visit to the Norfolk, New Hebrides. Banks and Solomon Islands, and will be away almost three months. With her husband. Canon Turner, Mrs Turner worked for about ten years in the Islands and at the invitation of the Bishop of Melanesia, the Rt. Rev. W. H. Baddeley, she will make the trip and revisit the Inlands where formerly she lived. As President of the Mothers’ Union for the Diocese of Waikato, Mrs Turner will be interested In the work of the Mothers’ Union in the Islands, which is a recent development, and should gain an interesting insight into the progress of the work In the Islands. TE MATA. Mrs W. Yearbury, of Auokland, is visiting Te Mata and Raglan. • • • * Mrs Benseman, of Te Hutlwai, is on a visit to Hoteo North. Mrs F. Andrews is spending a holiday in Auckland and Helensville. Mrs B. Rae. of Otorohanga, is •pending a holiday witli her mother, Mrs J. P. Porter. * * * * Miss Kathleen Peaoocke, who has been the guest of Mrs G. Stephenson for three weeks, has returned to Taumarunui. * * • * Mrs Gibbs and daughter, of Hoteo North, have been the guests of Mrs W. Yearbury, of Te Hutlwai.
