It was reported that the Mayor and councillors would' attend at the Courthouse at i 1 a.m., when they would plant their flags and the Mayor would deliver an address. Mr W. H. Paul, president of the Waikato Children's Camp League, has taken a keen interest in the organisation of the schools for a function on June 3, and he stated yesterday that, although no promise had been made that the Waikato League would benefit, his society was in favour of the establishment of health camps and knew the cause to be a worthy one. A strong appeal for support from the business community for the King George V. National Memorial Fund has been made by the president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, Mr M. G. C. McCaul, who writes as follows: “The business community of New Zealand Is noteidi for Its generous response to appeals for help to all worthy objects. I*n asking business men to support the King George V. Memorial Fund. I do so In the sure knowledge that it will present a double appeal to them. First, a desire worthily to commemorate their loyalty and affection for the late King George V. and, secondly, a wish to establish a memorial of such a nature as ho would approve. The reign of King 'George V was beset with many difficulties but, throughout, his first thought was ever the welfare of his subjects. I am sure we could not more fittingly perpetuate so fragrant a memory of duty and affection than by adopting tho proposal of the Prime Minister and permanently endowing four children’s health camps in the Dominion. ”
