ZONING QUESTION.
AFFECT OF PROPOBALB. FARMERS’ UNION DISCUSSION. “I think if we support this remit we* will be opposing a principle which we have supported for years," said Mr C. J. Pierce when a remit was placed before the Waikato sub-pro-vincial executive of the Farmers’ Union at its monthly meeting, in Hamilton, yesterday, from the Auckland executive, stating that the decision of the Executive Commission of Agriculture, In its zoning; proposals to compel suppliers to support a company three years after its sale to another ooncern, was viewed with concern.
‘‘We have asked for zoning and the elimination of overlapping," stated Mr J. H. Furnls-s," and In the process It would be necessary to apply compulsory measures. If we support this remit we will be making ourselves ridiculous.” Mr H. O. Mellsop, president of the Auckland Farmers’ Union, who was present at the meeting, pointed out that the remit did not necessarily condemn zoning but objected to a particular phase of it. The remit was lost.
