WAIKATO CLUB’S MEETING SENSATIONAL PLACE DIVIDEND. GLOSTER WINS INTRODUCTORY. The Autumn meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club was held to-day at Claudelands in fine but cloudy weather before a large attendance. The track was slightly holding. A sensational place dividend was paid by Tangaroa in the first race when he returned nearly a century in running third. Winner trained by owner, East Tamakt. Finishing on in attractive style Gloster got up to win well in a good Ilnish with Bronze Queen, both horses being comparatively neglected in the betting. The third horse, Tangaroa. was also one or the outsiders in the large neld. The plare return of Tangaroa. which was close on a century, represented the highest place dividend ever returned on the win and place betting in New Zealand. Red Eagle, and Sophy Ringen. with five lengths to Gonap and three to Native Princess. Lady Bunker was six lengths clear of Red Eagle across the top with Grand Triumph handy and Sopliy R'ngen practically on terms ln front of Native Princess. They came Into the straight in that order and Lady Runker. holding on. won by one and a-hair lengths from Grand Triumph with Bronte threequarters of a length away. Ironside scored his first success for 12 months when he won the big race on the programme, following Star Pronto ovec the greater part or tne trip and coming through ln the straight to win handsomely. Ironside began well and passing the stands the first time was ln charge from Glorietta. Kewpie’s King. Winaway, star Pronto. Ke.nwo thy and Our McKinney. At the end of a Turiher circuit. Siar l’ronlo was just in front of Ironside with Kewple's King handy with Winaway. Great Jewel. Kenworth.v and Our McKinney in t.iat order. Star Pronto and Ironside were on terms racing across the top, coming into Hie straight in that order. However, as they straightened up for home, star Pronto broke badly and interfered with several other horses. Including Kewpi king and kenworth.v. Kewpie’s K.ng railing. In the straight Ironside went on to win decisively by one ami a-half lengths from our McKinney who beat Glorietta by two lengths. Winaway was i-j lengths away fourth with Hie rest down the straigtit.
