PETTY OFFICER'S TRIBUTE. “EVERY OUNCE IN HIS DUTY.” •DISREGARD FOR HIMSELF. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlgm (Received May 1, 1.45 p.m.) LONDON, April 30. Mr James Moffatt, of Belfast, formerly a petty officer, on H.M.S. ColIJngwood, in a letter to the newspapers, pays tribute to the King’s part in the Battle of Jutland. He says: “He (the King) was stationed in the foremost turret of the -Collingwood working the instruments on which depended the accuracy of the guns, and he displayed an utter disregard, for himself. He put every ounce of his manhood into his duty.”
Mr Moffatt adds he was sure of his facts because he was the King’s companion in the turret throughout the battle.
