The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, who arrived in Auckland on Friday after a coastal trip in the Government steamer Matai, left Auckland for Wellington last night on official business. He expects to return to Auckland on Thursday.
Mr V. Olney, of Gisborne, Is visiting Hamilton.
Mr John Hopkins, of Auckland, formerly prominent in theatre management, is visiting Hamilton.
Mr J. S. Barnes, a war correspondent for Reuter during the Italo-Abys-sinian War, Is visiting Auckland.
Mr C. M. Croft, retiring Canadian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, will leave by the Aorangi to-night for Vancouver.
Lord McGowan, chairman and managing director of Imperial Chemical Industries, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Awatea.
Mr W. G. Adams, manager of the NgaruaAvahia branch of the Bank of New Zealand, will retire on super-an-nuation at the end of March.
The Right Rev. G. A. Chambers, Anglican Bishop of Tanganyika, arrived in Wellington on the Awatea from Sydney yesterday.
Messrs H. B. Johnson, A. Froude, S. Upton (Auckland) F. R. Bate (New Plymouth) and H. Peak (Wanganui) are at the Hotel Midland.
Messrs F. W. Webb B. G. Edwards, A. W. Gould (Auckland), F. C. Grubb (Wellington), P. E. Clark (Christchurch) and P. Coogan (Ohura) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Sympathy with Mr Edwin Thomas a member of the Hamilton Advlsorj Committee of the Automobile Association (Auckland), at the death of hU wife, was expressed by the hoard a a meeting last evening.
An expression of sympathy with the family of the late Mr James Gilbert was made at the meeting of the Hamilton Advisory Committee of the Automobile Association (Auckland), last evening. The members stood in silence as a mark of respect.
Canon W. G. Williams, vicar of Aramoho, will leave Wanganui at the e’nd of this month to become assistant to the Bishop of Aotearoa, the Rt. Rev. F. A. Bennett, with headquarters at Napier.
Mr V. D. Edwards, the new area officer, stationed at the Waikato Area Headquarters of the Automobile Association Auckland), was welcomed at the first meeting in the new year of the Hamilton Advisory Committee last evening.
Mr Norman E. Brookes, president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia, will leave Melbourne for England next week. He will, on behalf of the association, negotiate for a visit of several international champions, including G. von Cramm.
