OTOROHANGA.
ERADICATION OF RAGWORT. On September 10 Mr Cockayne, the Director-General of Agriculture, conferred with the Otorohanga County Council in reference to the eradication of ragwort. After considerable discussion tlie council passed a resolution assuming responsibility for the administration’ of the Noxious Weeds Act (1958) as from September 21 It was decided to test out tlie gang system, a gang to comprise 10 men, with a fanner would be £2 15s, payable in advance, tlie amount to include sodium chlorate and lime at the rate of hair a cwt per man per day. also transport administration and insurairce.
