IN LIQUIDATION.
DOMINION MERCANTILE AGENCY. OFFICIAL ASSIGNEE TO ACT. BUSINESS TO BE SOLD. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The affairs of the Dominion Mercantile Agency Ltd., were discussed to-day when the Official Assignee, Mr Tansley, presided over a meeting attended by between 40 and 50 people the majority being solicitors representing creditors assisting Mr Tansley, Mr Powles, solicitor, appearing for the petitioning creditor, Messrs Ross and Glendining, Ltd. It was unanimously decided to make no application to the court for the appointment of a liquidator in place of the Official Assignee or for the appointment of a committee of inspection, and Mr Tansley will carry on with the liquidation. It. was decided that the Official Assignee call for tenders for the purchase of the business as a going concern as a whole, or for the purchase of separate branches In Wellington, Auckland and Christchurch.
Although no'detailed statement was available as to the exact financial position of the agency, the deficiency was stated to be between £6OOO and £7OOO. The creditors number 700 and the debtors 500.
