BOARD’S LATEST RETURNSUnited Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Sept. 14. The Board of Trade returns for August show imports £66,057,000, exports £35,‘258,000, and re-exports £4,355,000. The principal increases comparec with August last year are:—lmports: Grain and flour £1,161,000, dairy produce £347,000, beverages £462,000, wood and timber £440,000, iron and ore £313,000, cotton raw waste £1,677,000, iron and steel £416,000, oils and fats £417,000. Exports; Vehicles £413,000. The principal decreases are:—lmports: Fresh fruit and vegetables £832,000, rubber £630,000. Exports: Goal £414,000, iron and steel £391,000. TRADE IN AUCKLAND. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. AUCKLAND, Wednesday. A sudden increase in the price of potatoes is a feature of business in grain and produce. ‘Potatoes.—Rates for reds range from £9 10s a ton through store to £lO ss, while whites vary from £9 5s to £9 15s a ton through store. Last week reds were selling at £8 17s 6d and whites at £8 2s 6d. The market is exceptionally firm. 'Onions.—The bulk of local supplies are imported, which are selling unaltered at 16s a case for Japanese and 15s 6d a bag for ‘Californian. # Fowl Wheat.—There has been no alteration in the price of 6s 2d a bushel through store for graded over the past week- Sample lines are quoted about 2d a ‘bushel cheaper.

Maize.—Quotations for maize remain at the high rate Cs 9d a bushel through store.

Barley.—There is a good, steady demand locally for Australian barley at 4s 6d a bushel through store. Oats and Chaff.—There lias been an increase of id a bushel in the price of oats over the past week, current values now being 4s 4d a bushel through store. The market for chaff is again a shade easier, but there is no change in the price of £8 10s a ton through store.

Bran and Pollard. —The shortage of bran has been slightly relievedValues remain at last week’s level of £6 15s a ton through store. Quotations for Australian pollard are maintained at the reduced rate of £8 a ton through store. The local value, as fixed by the Wheat Committee, is unaltered at £6 10s a ton.
