TRAFFIC ON FOOTPATHS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —May I suggest to the Hamilton B'O rough 'Council, through your columns, that when considering regulating bicycle traffic it should also consider the matter of bicycles being wheeled on footpaths, particularly in Victoria Street? One cycle being wheeled occupies about as much space as two pedestrians, and when two such cyclists wheeling their machines meet and stop to have a chat an obstruction to pedestrian traffic i-s caused. This very frequently happens. On any busy day the footpath traffic in Victoria Street is awkward enough without any unnecessary obstacle being encountered, and it should ne possible to eliminate this nuisance. Occasionally it happens that three walking cyclists meet and stop, and then real congestion is caused.—l am, CYCLIST. Hamilton, September 14.
