CLAIMS TO BE 131. CHILDREN POPULATE VILLAGE. A villager of Upper Egypt claims to have celebrated his 131st birthday, and to have 60 children. His name is Selim el Hendawi, and he lives in El Haghe, a village near Aswan. Selim has been married many times, and his children’s families constitute the major part of the village. The old man, who declares he was born in 1805, has an extraordinary memory, and tells wonderful tales of the rejgn of Mohammed Aly the Great, and speaks of events which occurred long before the British occupation of Egypt in 1882.
