AVONDALE AHEAD. ELLERSUE HORSES WORKED. LORD VAL IN GOiOD HEART. MASTER BRIERLY IMPRESSES. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND. Tuesday. The going on the course proper, which was available Tor fast work 70ft. out from the rails at Ellerslie this morning, was very holding though better than it has been during the last couple or weeks. There was a fair amount of work but times were on the slow side. Those to Impress were Horowlienua, Lord Val, Master Brlerly and Survoy. Fleetvvind, who was flrst out, was timed To run hair a mile in 54 2-5. She was going on solidly at the finish. Horowlienua (Kearns) and Mazir (Wiggins) finished several lengths ahead or Te liai at the end of a mile which took 1.52. They ran the flrst half mile in 54s and Horowhemia was doing best at the post. Kelly was going comfortably while traversing half a mile in 57 1-5, and Morning .Sun got to the end or six furlongs in 1.27 4-5. Knight of Australia (Wiggins) finished well dear or Tybalt (Tremain) arter completing a round hr 2.17 2-5. Tybalt taking 2.18 1-5. Knight or Australia ran his last seven furlongs in 1.41 2-5 and was staying on well. Gay Defence ran home rrom the three furlongs post in 4 2 2-5. it was his first fast work-out for some time and he acquitted himself well. Lord Val—Master Brierly. Lord Val and Master Brlerly were timed to run seven furlongs in 1.39 2-5. It was the best of the morning over the distance and Lord Val was in front at the end. He will contest the Avondale Cup on Saturday in preference to the hurdle event. Tin Lap began better than Calieirte from the three furlong post and beat her home comfortably in 4 1 4-5. Persian Lady and Lady Diana, arter running their first two in 28 2-5, wero not their best to complete five Turlongs Landlubber strode over six furlongs in 1.28 4-5. He could have improved upon the time. After breakfast Valspear was given an easy six l'urlongs, which he completed in 1.29 2-5.
Vera Acre did userul work, running the last five furlongs of her task at about 15s. to the furlong. Roman Mascot was also allotted a userul task but was not after time. Huntsman's Chorus traversed six furlongs in 1.2 6 3-5, and was running on strongly. Over a similar distance United registered 1.29 3-5. Mainland ran home from the half-mile post in 56 1-5. This mare is hr good order for her engagements at Avondale. Survoy finished in Trout of Hope Lass at the conclusion or five furlongs, which took 1.9 4-5, time which was not bettered during the morning. Juveniles Worked. * n . two-year-old track Bowyang sprinted three furlongs in 38 3-5. He did it well and has good prospects on Saturday. Harlech ran two miles in 26 2-5. on the same track a number or horses were given practice at the barrier at the p ? st ’ being sent in two batches.
