EMPIRE EXHIBITION.

SOUTH AFRICAN VENTURE. BROADCAST OF OPENING. The opening ceremony of the Empire Exhibition at Johannesburg, which will take place to-day, will be broadcast by the 8.8. C. from Daventry, and will be heard in New Zealand at 5.45 p.m. to-morrow. The transmission, which will be of 2 5 minutes’ duration, will begin with the speech of the Governor-General of South Africa, the Earl of Clarendon, who will open the exhibition, of which he is Patron-in-Chief. A speech by the Prime Minister of South Africa. General Hertzog. who Is Vice-Patron of the exhibition, will follow. Then will come messages of greeting from the HI. Hon. Stanley Baldwin, the Rt. Hon. \\ . L. Mackenzie King, the Rt. Hon J. A. Lyons, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, and the Hon. G. \l. Huggins, Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada. Australia. New Zealand, and Southern Rhodesia respectively. Those messages, conveyed by means of records previously made in the countries concerned, will be passed to South Africa from London by beam telephone and simultaneously broadcast from Dax entry.
