Mr M. H. Kelly, of Whangarei, lias joined the clerical staff of Dominion Motors Limited, Hamilton.

Mr Blackwood Paul, of Hamilton, arrived back this morning from an extended tour of England and Europe. Mr P. W. Maddock, of Wellington, New Zealand manager for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Films, was in Hamilton to-day. Mr Alexander Sievwright, 'secretary oi’ the Waitaki Hospital Board for the past 15 years, intimated to the board this morning that lie was retiring on superannuation as from March next, states an Oamaru message. Mr Claude Kingston, representing J. C. Williamson, Ltd., arrived in Auckland by the Niagara yesterday, to make arrangements for the tour of Mr Richard Crooks, the American tenor. Mr W. Ohlson, managing-director of the Alfa-Laval Separator Company (Australia), Limited, arrived at Auckland from Sydney by the Niagara yesterday on a business visit. He is in Hamilton to-day. Lieutenant-Colonel J. Atkinson, for two and a-half years during the war officer in command of the New Zealand Army Service Corps, will tour the Dominion shortly, lie left England on September 10 for Australia, en route to New Zealand. Mr R. B. Bennett, formerly Prime Minister of Canada, was in Wellington yesterday and left later for t lie South Island, where he will spend this week. While in Wellington lie met the Prime Minister and other members of 'the Cabinet, as well as a number of members of the House. The appointment of Mr N. E. Crimp, barrister and solicitor, of Whangarei, as secretary of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, was announced at a meeting of the association yesterday. The president, Mr J. A. G. Allum, also announced that lie intended to retire this year, and that his probable sucqessor would be Mr F. N. Ambler, vice-president. Messrs E. F. Frowde, E. Curran, C. L. Urquhart, E. D. Mahoney, D. B. Morton, N. Alexander, L. C. Bailey, G. G. Morton, A. E. Shaw (Auckland), L. S. Durey (Wellington), P. Bryan (Thames), H. Sladern (Christchurch), J. C. Capey (Whangarei), C. J. Luggen, C. ’II. Ileyworth (New Plymouth), and G. Wiliams (Gisborne) are at the Hamilton Hotel.
