SAVOLDI BEATS KRUSE. FORMER WORLD CHAMPION. (Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. “ Jumping Joe ” Savoldi,. of America (lost. 41b.), a former professional heavy-weight wrestling champion of the world, made his first appearance in the Town Hall last night, when he defeated Bob Kruse, also of America, lost., by two falls to one, the contest ending in the sixth round. One of the finest-professional wrestlers seen in Auckland, Savoldi at time's showed remarkable agility for a big man. These assets, his ringcraft and wide knowledge of the more difficult holds, made it clear why he was able to win the world title from Jim Londos in 193 i. Characterised by rough tactics on the part of both contestants, the bout was witnessed by a large attendance. BOE6CH DEFEATS PENCHEFF. (Speciul to Times.) TAUMARUNUI, Monday. In a wrestling match at Taumarunui on Saturday night Bocsch beat George Pencheff on points. Boesch obtained a fall in the fourth round with elbow jolts, drop-kicks, headlocks, slams and a body press. Pencheff .in the seventh round dumped Boesch twice with crutch holds and gained a fall with a body-press. A very exciting bout went eight rounds. It was Pencheff’s first appearance in the Dominion since 1931.
