ENGLISH TEAM’S TOUR. EXPENDITURE CONSIDERED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. The extent to which negotiations have progressed between the Football j Association (London) and the New Zealand Football Association for the English amateur team’s tour of New Zealand next year was disclosed at a meeting of 1 lie council of the latter body to-night. Provisional arrangements have already been made lor the t eam to leave on Ihe Ghitral on April 20, and Australia is anxious to take four weeks of the nine weeks’ tour, tlie estimated cost to the Australian Association being £1520. In reply to a cablegram from the New Zealand Council asking it' the suggested Australian matches met with j approval, the Football Association (Loudon) cabled agreeing to the Ausi Lralian matches, subject to there being
no serious extension in the lime of the tour. In addition to the actual fares and hotel expenses in Australia and New Zealand, the message stated that approximately £750 would have to be added for assembling the players, equipment, insurance and incidental ! expenses. A cablegram was read from the Ausi tralian Football Association agreeing lo co-operate with the English team’s j tour on the assumption that- Australia J would secure four Saturday matches, j and that the amount involved would j he pro rata of the overhead expenses. I The chairman, Mr J. A. Milburn, ’ said that the extra amount mentioned j in the English cablegram had not been | allowed for. It was a matter for the j urgent consideration of the finance committee. j Mr F. Campbell suggested that the Football Association (London) he asked lo assemble and outfit the team, the amount expended to be the first charge on the profits of the tour. ance commiltec.
