Owing to ill-health Mr P. Hally has retired from the position of Concilia—tion Commissioner at Auckland, which he has held since 1908. The Rev. Father Crowe C. 55.11.. of Wellington. is in Hamilton conducting retreats at the Church of Our Lad: or the Rosary. M. Paul Vinogradolf. the Russia: pianist who has been residing in Well. inston for some years. has left New Zealand to take up his residence in Australia. Dr. C. G. Hilliard. an American surgeon en route to Australia. will spend a couple or weeks in New Zealand on his way home again when he hopes to meet a number of surgeons of both islands, states a Wellington message. Mr Alan Tassell. assistant engineer to the Tauransa County Council (or the past eight years. has been appointed assistant enslneer to the Ola—matea County Council. with headquarters at Paparoa. It is expected that the retirement will be announced shortly. to take effect from the end of the year. of Professor Hugh Mackenzie. front the chair of EngliSh Language and Literature at Victoria University College. Wellington. Mr D. S. B.
