LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss Budd, of Messrs Balfour, Irvine and Webster, supplies the following local observations on the weather: Barometer. Monday 29.90 Tuesday 30.25 Thermometer. Max. Min. Sunday 51 50 Monday 58 33 Mean Temperature, 45.5 deg. The barometer has risen rapidly since last reading and reads 30.25. Indications are for fair weather to-day and to-morrow, with colder temperature and southerly winds prevailing. The Rainfall. Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9 o’olock this morning, .10in. Rainfall for previous 48 hours, .16in. Total rainfall for September to date. l.OOin. Average rainfall for September. 3.88in. Rainfall for year to date, 40.26in. Average yearly rainfall, 46.32in. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist). The special forecast by the Government Meteorologist covering the WaikatoThanies Valley is as follows: Forecast: Moderate northerly winds prevailing and gradually freshening. Weather fine and mild but later increasing. Seas moderate. General Inference: An anti-cyclone is centred north ot the Bay of Plenty, but a depression covers the western Tasman Sea and is advancing slowly eastwards.
