Painting the Awatea. —The arrival at Wellington of the Union Steam Ship Company’s new trans-Tasman liner Awatea, and the necessity for her overhaul, caused a flurry among painters in Wellington. The placement officer at Lower Hull, advised Dial he could supply D) good men. and this offer was accepted. "11 previous day Ihe Patent Slip Company had .-feked the placement office lo supply 20 painters and brush hands for work oil a vessel on Ihe slip. The request was received was received at s.:jo a.m., and the men required were at work within two hours. Employers generally have come lo recognise Ihe completeness of the placement scheme’s organisation and Ihe reliability of Ihe men recommended for employment.
