In inaugurating a campaign for the •aclfloation of the unsirbjugated hinterland, synchronising with the end of the rains on September 15, Marshal Qnilani farwelled a column of Eritreans and Abyssinians who were embarking on motor lorries, commanded by white officers and mechanicians, all equipped with modern weapons. Elaborate plans are contained in the report of the commission on the rebuilding of Addis Ababa. It will be a garden city, with the central monumental zone fringed by the vice-regal, palace and Government 'buildings. Nearby will be a new Roman Catholic Cathedral. Six large barracks will dominate the incoming roads.
The natives will be segregated and zoned according to their rank. Hospitals, schools and sports centres §re included in the plans.
