WELCOME RAIN.
lFFlc'l' 0N PAO‘I’URIO. FERTILISED AREAS BENEFIT. Although farmers would have we]. comed heavier falls. the rain experi—enced throughout the Waikato this week has been the means of stimulating pasture growth to a slight extent. 'l‘hls‘ has been noticeable. however. only on fertilised areas where autumn manurial work has been completed. The exceptionally long period of frost: has lowered the soil temperature to .1 considerable extent and this fact has inllitated against pasture growth even where fertilisers~ have been applied liberally for the purpose of obtaining winter grass. Little feed shortage has been re» ported in the district, for the majority of farmers are well provided with ensiiage and hay following a bountiful season.
