MOCK PARLIAMENT.
OURRINOV AND PRIOES. The .\lock Parliament reassembled .ast night in the \Vnttie Tea Rooms when the Deputy-Speaker took the chair at 8.0 pm. A large attendance showed that in—terest in the question ui’ currency and prices was keen. ’l‘iie sitting rcloived itseli’ into a debate upon the loilowins motion: “That a substan—tial devaluation of New Zealand cur—rency and the nxing or its value in terms or New Zealand exportabie pru~ dues in the proper course to adopt to restore prosperity in New Zealand." The speaker dealt with the incon—liltency or the present money system. By valuing the currency in terms of produce, thereby making nuance obedient to production, the evils of our present debt system would be eradicated, he said. The member Itated that the policy of the Government regarding the guaranteed price would bring every primary producer under the scheme. but that would not lolve the ditliculty of rising prices. It was only by lowering the value (If money that the burden or debt could be relieved. The member was then questioned upon his motion and practically every member of the “House" Joined in the debate. Questions from every angle were asked. including taril‘ts. moneylenders, interest, ownership of land, socialism. labour. etc. Humour was introduced by several members and some time was given to the actual wording of a pound note, one member suggesting that they should be made of linen so that they could be washed. At 10.35 pm. the Deputy-Speaker called for a division. and the motion was carried. The ‘ilouse" adjourned until Thursday. June 25, at 7&5 p.m.
