THE WAIPA CLUB. PROFIT ON LAST MEETING. IMPROVEMENTS SUGGESTED. (Times Representative). TE A\VAI\IUTU. \Vednesday. A meeting of the \‘Vaipa Racing Club was held at Te Awamutu last evening. when the president. .\lr J. 'l'. Young. presided. The secretary, Mr J. G. \Nynyard was also present. . It was decided to send a wreath to the relatives of the late Mr \V. G. Kay. whose death occurred on Monday. A letter was received from Mr Kay in appreciation of the treatment accorded him at the recent race meeting on May 16. A vote or condolence with the relatives of Mr Kay was passed, members standing in silence. The secretary reported that a re—fund 0! 2i per cent of £3778 which passed through the‘ totalisator at the last meeting. amounting to £96. 95. had been applied for and had been granted. bringing the total amount received during the current year to £SOO. Reporting on the recent meeting, the secretary stated that the profit on the din] had been about £SOO. The profit on the summer meeting in December .o'trlast year had been in the vicinityof £650. He expected that the pro'tlt on the financial year which will end on June 3!. would be about £I2OO. The.opinion that additions would be necessary to the totalisator house was expressed by the president. Two additional windows on the inside and one .e'xtra one on the outside were needed. At the recent meeting it had been difiicult to handle the 'money and keep the meeting -up.to schedule. ‘ .\lr J_. O‘Sullivan comme’nted on the fact that the license booth opehed on to the back of the totalisator. It was lett .10: the track committee to in—vestigate the matter. ‘ The president stated that complaints had been made regarding the numbering board and members considered the. board should be twice as large as at present. Mr A. H. storey said the place board was also far too small. A suggestion that the club‘s stables be shifted and the' land surveyed with a view to selling was put forward by the president. It was stated that there was room (or at least six sections on the property. On the recommendation or Mr Storey it was decided that the course committee be empowered to have the stable removed, and that they be authorised to have the land sur—veyed for sale as residential sections. Two new members. Messrs F. J. Bertram and Drum Hayley (Owairaka). were elected. Assn appreciation of their action in deferring all matches scheduled for May 16 the Waipa Rugby Football Association were granted £5.
