PETROL PUMPS
} QUESTION OF LICENSING. COUNTY COUNCIL'S DECISION. (Times Representative). ’I‘E AWAMUTU, Monday. Arising out of an application for Messrs Tuck and \Vatklns for permission to erect an electric benzine pump on the road leading into their mill in Livingstone Avenue, the matter of licensing petrol pumps came in for a good deal of consideration at the monthly meeting of the W'eipa County Council at Te Awamutu to—day. The engineer said the council received no license fees from the road'side pumps in the county. Mr Livinglstone said the count). council should get revenue from the pumps in the county. "In a few years' time." lie ‘seid. “these pumps will be as thick as peas all over the country." One councillor said it was rather farcical that the pumps should he installed before permission was applied for. The clerk. Mr ’l‘. Grant, considered a fee should be payable to the council, not altogether as a means of revenue. but because it would bring each application before the notice of the council. ‘ It was decided to make an annual charge by way of 'a license and to insist on an insurance indemnity. The matter of a suitable fee would be con- ‘ sidered at the next meeting. l l
