INADEQUATE LIGHTING

BOROUGH COUNOH. MEETS. (Times Representative.) )lORRINSYILLE, Friday. The need for more adequate street lighting in the town was stressed by Mr “I Iletherington at the Borough Council meeting inst evening: He stated that since the business people or the town were now eontrtbutlng over £IOO per year towards community lighting it was only fair that the Thames Valley Power Board should be approached to improve the ordinary street lights. The town clerk reported that arrangements were in hand to confer with the Power Board oflicials, who had already agreed to supply the council with full details of a new and improved form of street lamp. The Raihxays Department wrote in reference to the leasing of a strip of land in connection with the proposed new stock route. It was decided to confer with the Piako County Council before taking action Permission was granted the Women‘s Divisioin of the Farmers‘ Union to take Up a street collection to assist the Blind institute Band to Visit Morrinsvillc. ‘ U ’
A number of recommendations from me finance committee in connection with proposed new rates of pay and the 40-hour week were deferred for discussion at next meeting.
