The secretary of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club, Mr Fred Elbeshausen states that although Closing Time was originally nominated for the Futurity Stakes by J. T- Jamieson, wh<p was later disqualified* there is nothing to prevent Closing Time taking part legitimately in the race. Despite the fact that the Australian Jockey Club had prevented the horse starting in the Villiers’ Handicap he emphasised that there are “points of difference” between the two races which he Is unofficially unable to disclose.
