GORDONTON NEWS. “TIN CANNING” PARTY. A gay party assembled at the residence of Mrs A. E. Morgan, at Gordonton, on Monday evening to welcome home, in the form of a tin-canning, Mr and Mrs Rigby Lister. There was a large number present, and the evening, which went with a swing, included games, competitions, and elocution by Messrs J. Sharp and S. Williamson. During the evening the opportunity was taken by Mr S. AVilliamson to welcome the new Presbyterian Minister, Rev. Lilburn, who cordially returned thanks, and apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mrs Lilburn. Supper was served, after which musical honours were accorded Mr and Mrs Lister, and with the singing of Auld Lang Syne a pleasant evening came to a close. EUCHRE AND DANCE. There was a good attendance at the euohre and dance held in the 'Gordonton Hall on Thursday evening in aid of St. Mary’s, and organised by the Anglican Ladies’ Guild, and a happy time was spent. Some enjoyable games were played at the oard tables, the winners being Mrs Saxton and Mr W. McLeod. A novelty dance was won by Miss J. Letfoot and Mr H. Burton. In the supper room bowls of golden rod made the tables look most attractive. Dance musio was supplied by a panatrope operated by Mr GilfTllan, and Mr G. Weston was M.C.
