Mr Justice Callan left Hamilton for Auckland last evening and will return to-morrow evening. The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, accompanied by his private secretary, Mr W. I. Deavoll, arrived in Hamilton from Wellington this morning. He will return south by the limited express to-morrow evening. Mr C. A. Barren, M.P., for Hamilton, returned from Wellington this morning. Mr R. Mannington, representing Wirths’ Circus, is visiting Hamilton. Messrs V. Lancaster, W. Stewart, H. R. Walter, T. A. Smith, A. Ashton and G. Magi 11, of Auckland, are at the Hamilton Hotel. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour left Auckland for Sydney last evening by the Mariposa. Mr R. C. Napier, accountant at the Napier branch of Dalgety and Company. has been appointed manager of the Whangarei branch. The following appointments to Rabbit Boards appear in the New Zealand Gazette: —Tokoroa and Whitehall, Mr \\. D. McDonald.;" Waikato Central Mr G. B. Melrose. Mr George Irwin, of Christchurch, has been appointed secondary assistant at the Boys’ Grammar School. Suva. He will leave Auckland by the Aorangi on March 3. Mr J. K. Hunn, of the Public Trust Oflice, and Mr F. G. J. Temm, of the Railway Department, Auckland, have been elected as Auckland members of the Dominion Council of the New Zealand Institute of Public Administration. Mr R. Jose arrived at Auckland yesterday by the Mariposa to take the position of passenger representative of tlic Male 'll Line. This position was formerly occupied by Mr N. S. Walker, who has been transferred to the Sydney oflice. Mr E. A. Talbot, who has been associated with the Phoenix Assurance Company, Christchurch, for 30 years, is retiring as from February 29, and has been appointed a local director. Mr G. C. Lezard, formerly of the Wellington oflice, has been appointed manager in Christchurch in succession to Mr Talbot. The Rev. J Coombes, late of Avondale, was inducted to the charge of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Matamata, In the presence of a large gathering of parishioners on Thursday evening. The Rev. 5. J. Atkins, of Frankton, moderator of Waikato, carried out the ceremony, a social evening in the St. Andrew’s Hall followed the Induction. At the final session of the Methodist Conference at Christchurch the following variations in the first draft of Methodist ministers’ appointments jn South Auckland for 1930 were made, the names of ministers relieved being in parenthesis:—Waihi: R. Day. Matamata: 11. Daniel (A. Blakemore). Te Ivuiti: J. 11. Hall (11. Ford). Taumarunui: G. H. R. Peterson (R. Day).
