Bledisloe Hall of Agriculture HAMILTON
Opened by the Governor-General of New Zealand, Viscount Galway, G.C.M.G., D. 5.0., 0.8. E., on the occasion of the Annual Exhibition of the Waikato Winter Show Association.
FINE TEAM WORK. Mention of “ Bledisloe Hall ” in our journal would be incomplete without reference to the fine piece of team work which enabled this large scale demonstration of new engineering principles to be carried through so successfully, thereby giving both practical and commercial proof to theories that had already caused considerable interest in Britain. But for the co-operation and ability of the Executive Committee of the Waikato Winter Show Association no engineer could have attempted such a wide departure from recognised methods. While it is the purpose of a show to bring new developments before the public, few shows have themselves introduced any important discoveries or taken the lead in solving a national problem. The world-wide publicity which the Waikato Winter Show is now receiving is therefore well merited and will no doubt enable it to exceed last year’s record of having attracted one and a-half times the total population of its town in one day. We venture to prophesy that shows are a public institution that are destined to play an increasingly important part in the development of cities and boroughs and their adjacent counties.
