Wellington Repertory Society. The Wellington Repertory Society has two plays— 44 The Admirable Crichton ” and Richard of Bordeaux” —in simultaneous rehearsal, with two separate casts. With its 7(50 members the society has plenty of players to draw upon. ‘‘The Admirable Criohton” is to be staged for five performances, commencing on Tuesday, March 24. The cast will include Dr. S. E. Crawford, Messrs J. B. Yaldwyn, Redmond Phillips, A. H. Maoandrew, G. R. Powles, Evan Horrowell, Dick Morpeth, J. F. Gavin, G. J. Bell, F. N. Renner, Misses Mollie Brown, P. Marshall, J. Steele, T. Meadows, M. Eastwood, M. Thompson, A. McGrath, D. Buok, P. MacDonald, Mrs G. H. A. Swan and Mrs Sydney Tlngey. Laok of Support Deplored. A credit balance of £344 17s lOd was held by the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society at the end of the year, according to the annual report. This is compared with a balance of £493 11s 5d at the end of 1934, and the report states that the loss during last year was caused by an increase in the expense of production, loss of membership, and most of all, to a lack of support ou the part of the general public. The drama classes under Bernard Beeby are stated to have been successfully conducted, and to have aroused much keenness in students. Though there was a loss of £23 6s 7d, it was stated that many members Join the society in order to take part in the classes. Drama Festival at Wellington. At a recent meeting of the Wellington Area of the British Drama League, it was decided to hold a festival of drama again this year. The probable dates are August 12 to 15 inclusive, and it is hoped to hold tlie junior festival at the same time. The Wellington Area will also hold a junior playwriting competition again this year.
