GLEN MASSEY NEWS.
FAREWELL EVENING. There was a large attendance at a farewell evening to Mr and Mrs J. Gumming, held in the Glen Massey Hall on Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs Gumming have lived in the district for many years and are now leaving to live in Auckland. The evening was spent in dancing, while much appreciated songs were rendered by “Friend John” of the Friendly Road: Mr D. Macfarlane; and Mr A. Pratt. Excellent, dance music was supplied by Forrests’ Orchestra, and Miss N. Johnson ( piano), and Mr G. Duck (accordin') played extras. Mr S. Davies was M.C. Mr .T. Brown presented Mrs Gumming with a silver cake basket, and Mr dimming with a silver shaving mug and brush, on behalf of the people of Glen Massey. In presenting the gifts Mr Brown gave a brief account of the good work done by Mr and Mrs Gumming during the time they have lived in the district, and wished them success in their new venture. SCHOOL PICNIC. - A large number of children and adults travelled to the Hamilton Domain on Saturday for the annual picnic of the Glen Massey School. Beautiful weather conditions favoured the picnickers and the function was | much enjoyed. Races of every description were held for young and old, the children receiving books and toys as prizes. Lunch and afternoon tea was supplied to everyone, while the children were given fruit, drinks, and ice Cr6 Great credit is due to the School Committee, teachers, and other willing helpers for organising such a delightful outing.
