SEAMEN’S STRIKE.
A LIVELY DEBATE. RECRIMINATIONS AT MEETING. ATTEMPT TO FIND TROUBLE. United Press Assn.—Elec Tei. Copyright. MELBOURNE, Feb. 19. There were numerous recriminations during a lively debate at a seamen’s meeting to-day, which was attended b'y about 350 members of the union. When the general secretary, Mr J. Keenan, and the secretary of the Sydney branch, Mr C. Herbert, submitted a report on the negotiations for a settlement they wpre subjected to many interruptions. Mr Keenan said lie was being “ put on the spot.” One member interjected that the men should be told the truth, namely, that the Strike Committee had failed. Ultimately, the meeting agreed that the Sydney seamen, who had sponsored Ihe strike, should be required also lo lake the initial action to end it. Messrs. Keenan and Herbert immediately left for Sydney lo attend a meeting there.
