PERSONAL.
The Bishop of Waikato, the Right Rev. C. A. Cherrington, will leave Hamilton to-day on the first stage of his visit to England. During the Bishop’s absence the Waikato diocese will be under the charge of the vicar-general, the Ven. Archdeacon G. 11. Gavin, of New Plymouth. Mr W. G. Talbot, secretary of the Wellington Boxing Association for 26 years, is retiring. Mr D. J. Hill, of the Auckland staff of the Public Trust Office, has been transferred to the Westport branch as district manager. Messrs J. H. Jerram, F. H. Goodley, H. V. Clapcott, H. F. Abraham (Wellington), and C. A. Burt (Auckland) are at the Hamilton Hotel. The Rev. David McNeur, of the Mataura Presbyterian Church, has received a call from the congregation of Landsdowne, near Masterton. and the call lias be°n sustained by the Wairarapa presbytery. The Clutha County Council has appointed Mr B. T. W. Owen, of Christchurch, to the position of county engineer to fill the vacancy caused by llie resignation of Mr G. S. Gould, who has been the county’s engineer for 10 years. Professor W. Riddet. director of the Dairy Research Institute. Palmerston North, will leave Auckland by the Niagara on Tuesday for Vancouver, having accepted a visitor's grant from the board of trustees of the Carnegie Corporation, New York, enabling him to visit the United States and Europe. Mr F. Ansell, who for several years has been manager of the Regent Theatre in Auckland, will leave on Wednesday for Wellington, where he will take up an executive position at the head office with the control of all the corporation’s theatres In the North l-sland. Mr F. McCallum, assistantmanager of the Regent Theatre, Auckland, will take over the management of the Regent Theatre in Wellington Mr A. Regan, who has been manager of the Regent Theatre in Wellington, has been appointed manager of the Regent Theatre in Auckland. Mr Clyde Carr, M.P. for Tlmaru, is to be associated with the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser, in the reorganisation of the education system on the basis of the Atmore Report. Mr Carr was one of the signatories of the report, and was the only member of the Labour Party who travelled as a member of Hie Recess Committee of 1929 throughout New Zealand taking the evidence on which the report was based.
