BUILDING ACTIVITY.

POSITION IN HAMILTON. MUCH NEW WORK IN HAND. While the number of building permits issued last month by the Hamilton Borough Council, totalling 23, was one less than those for the same month last year, the value of the work involved is more than double that of January 1935. The 23 permits issued last month concerned work to cost £14,483, while in January last year the permits were for work to cost £6996. That house-building is well-main-tained is indicated by the fact that last month’s permits included 12 new houses. Last year eight new houses were authorised during January.
