SEVERE COLLISION

CARS MEET HEAD-ON. ACCIDENT AT WAITOA. THREE PEOPLE INJURED. (Special to Times) TE AROHA, Wednesday. Although both motor-cars were very extensively damaged when they were involved in a head-on collision on the Hamilton-Thames main highway at Waitoa about seven o’clock last evening, only three of the seven occupants were injured and none of them seriously. The injured are:— Mr Robert Mclndoe, 52 years, farmer of 'Te Puninga, fractured knee-cap and bruises. Mr M. Reed of Ngatea, severe facial injuries. Constable Rush ton, of Thames, injuries to hands and left knee. Constable Rushton and Mr Reed were in one car proceeding towards Thames, antf the other was being driven by Mr Mclndoe, who was accompanied by his wife, two children and a young woman. Both vehicles were damaged extensively as a result of the severe impact which occurred when visibility was very poor. Mr Mclndoe was the only occupant of his car to suffer severe injury, the remainder escaping with minor cuts from broken glass.

Medical aid was summoned and Mr Reed and Constable Hushtou were conveyed to the Thames Hospital in the Te Aroha ambulance and Mr Mclndoe was brought by car to the, Wal—kato Hospital. From inquiries made tO—day it is reported that all the Victims are progressing satisfactorily.
