The Sheffield Shield cricket match between New South Wales and Queensland was won by the former by 182 New South Wales made 366 in its first innings and declared its second j innings closed with 316 for nine j wickets. Copyright. MELBOURNE, Jan. 4. In the Sheffield Shield cricket match Victoria in its first innings made 313 igainst South Australia. Wall took four wickets for 7 7 run*. Waite two for 45, Ryan two for 26. Victoria followed-on and compiled 250 for five wickets (Rigg J 24, Quin 47). South Australia, which made 569, won on the first innings. FOUR CENTURIES. M.C.C. TOURISTS. GAME AGAINST SOUTHLAND. SOME BRIGHT BATTING. INVERCARGILL, Saturday. A bright display of hatting in which four centuries were scored was given by the touring M.C.C. team to-day in their match against Southland. Batting first, the visitors hit up 489 runs in 310 minues, Holmes and Langridge scoring three figures each and Parks notching a double century. Parks gave, no chances and batted very solidly for 284 minutes to compile the highest score of the tour so far. Holmes batted very freely, his 100 taking only 75 minutes, while Langridge* 118 in 128 minutes was made with versatile cricket- Langridge and Parks added 230 for the sixth wicket in 165 minutes.
