The Prime Minister, Mr Savage, had a busy day yesterday in Auckland, granting personal Interviews, receiving private deputations and attending to correspondence and departmental busiess.
The Hon. W. E. Parry, Minister of Internal Affairs, attended the public reception given at Huntly last evening to the Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, who is the member for that district.
The Premier of Queensland, Mr Forgan Smith, is going to England to attend the international sugar conference, and also to discuss other trade matters.
Mr Kevin McNamara, elder son of Mr P. J. McNamara, of Ohaupo, has been successful in passing ills second professional medical examination.
Mr C. A. Barrell, M.P. for Hamilton, attended a complimentary social tendered the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, at Huntly last evening.

Mr G. Llnwood’, who Avas in charge of the Shell Company, Limited, at New Plymouth, has been appointed to succeed Mr T. TAvhigg as manager at Napier.
Mr 11. White Wickham, of London, Avho visits New Zealand year by year for the big-game fishing, arrived in Wellington by the Rangitane on Tuesday.
Professor G. H. Knight, professor of architecture at Auckland University College, Avili leave in January on a year's trip to America and England. The Auckland City Council has granted him leave of absence from the Town Planning Committee.
Rev. B. Oxenbridge, Avho will leave Hamilton next Aveek for his neAV appointment at Taumarunui, Avas met last night by his fellow-guests at Abbotsford, and a gift made to him. Regret Avas expressed at Mr Oxenbriclge’s departure, and good wishes expressed for his happiness and prosperity.
Mr W. B. Gillespie, of the teaching staff of the Auckland Grammar School, left Wellington by the Bangitata last night for Britain. Mr Gillespie, who has been granted two terms’ leave of absence by the Auckland Grammar School Board of Governors, in tends lo study the latest educational developments while abroad.
Mr C. M. Bruce, head auctioneer of the stock department of Dalgely and Company in Christchurch, has received notice of transfer to Dunedin as manager. Mr Bruce has been associated with Dalgety’s in Christchurch for the past 31 years. Ills place in Chrslchurch will he taken by Mr T. Tonkin, at present manager of the Whangarei branch.
Air N. R. Bain has been notified that he lias been "“appointed Crown Prosecutor and Crown Solicitor for Wanganui. In accordance with the law Mr Bain had to resign this Slate appointment in order lo contest the election. It became competent for the Government to review (he position after the election, and notice of (lie present Government’s approval of the appointment was received this week.
