TROTTING.
CONFERENCE IN AUCKLAND.
HANDICAPPING QUESTION. As the result of correspondence between the Auckland Trotting Owners, Trainers and Breeders’ Association and the New Zealand Trotting Conference on Hie question of alleged irregularities in the imposition of penalties in Auckland, Mr 11. F. Nicoll, president of the conference, has advised the association that representatives of the Stipendiary Stewards' Committee and the Canterbury Owners and Breeders’ Association will visit Auckland during the Christmas holidays for the purpose of discussing the handicapping question generally. After the Thames trotting meeting the Auckland Association forwarded several complaints received from owners regarding the penalties imposed at
Waika'o, Auckland and Thames, to the New Zealand Trotting Conference. The complaints were investigated by the Stipendiary Stewards’ Committee, which was of the opinion that the explanations of the handicapper were satisfaefory and that the complaints could have been made only under misapprehension. The association has communicated with Mr Nieoll expressing its gratitude at his action and willingness to meet the delegates as suggested. A special general meeting of the association will be called during the coming trotting meeting to give all owners and trainers an opportunity of hearing the views of the delegates.
