THE SYDNEY SALES. COMPETITION CONTINUES STRONG United Press Assn.-Rler. Tei uopyrnm. SYDNEY, Dec. 17. At the wool sales 12,725 bales were offered and 11,615 sold, also 1058 privately. Competition continues strong and general, with increased support from Yorkshire. Greasy Merino made 30£d a lb for seven bales from Yass. AUCKLAND SALE IN JANUARY. CATALOGUE LIMIT INCREASED. Owing to tho unusual amount of wool that lias come forward the catalogue for the second Auckland wool sale which will ho held on January 21 was closed on Saturday. The spell of fine weather has enabled shearing to be completed in most parts of the province and growers who did not have their wool ready for the first sale at Auckland on November 26 have now sent their bales forward with the result that there has been an abnormal rush of wool lo the city stores. At the sale on November 26 the offering amounted lo only 21,000, of which a large proportion was last season’s wool. The delay in shearing operations caused by unfavourable weather was responsible for a decline in the usual number of bales of now season’s wool and ilie offering was toon short nf Hie catalogue limit of 25,000 bales, „
