CENTRAL BOARD MEETS. ELECTRICITY SALES INCREASE. The Central Waikato Electric Power Board met to-day, the chairman, Mr T. 'Hinton,- presiding. Alsu present were Messrs E. F. Peacocke, J. J- Ryburn, G. Smith, W. C. E. George, W. Henry, N. Reid, J. A. Sampson, S. S. Saulbrey, W. Lee Martin, J. R. Ellis (engineer-manager) and TI. J. Beeche (secretary). It was reported that electricity sales between April 1 and August 31, 1935, realised £30,395, compared with £28,172 during the corresponding period last year, an increase of £2,224. Power for Raglan. The engineer-manager, Mr J. R. Ellis, reported that poles had been erected to the points where both transformer structures would be erected lo supply the township of Raglan- The electric high-tension and the lowtension wiring had been completed as far as Te Uku and the line livened up. This enabled a supply to be given for the temporary lighting of the Te Uku Hall ou the evening of Friday, September 27, when a function was held toy the Raglan, Te Mata and Te Uku divisions of the Women’s Institute. The electric high-tension to Raglan, was completed on October 3. Tenders for the No. 2 Raglan area would be accepted within a few days. Groups 3 and 4, which include the wiring of (he dwellings of the Raglan township, have also closed and would be accepted at an early date. Other Extensions. The No. 1 and 2 sections of the Ruawaro and Naike Road extension had been completed with the 'exception of service lines which were toeing run and the consumers’ installations were also welt in hand, it was I lie intention of New Zealand Soluble Slags, Ltd., lo accept the hoard’s offer for the supply of power for 1 lie company’s new fertiliser works at Huully. A formal resolution was passed applying to the Local Government Loans Hoard for sanction lo raise £30,000 for general relriculatioo in Ihe hoard's district.
