DOMAIN BOARD.
SUITABLE SPORTS AREAS. ALL LEASED AT PRESENT. The Hamilton Domain Board met last evening, the chairman, Mr W. H. Paul, presiding. Also present were: Dr. 11. Douglas, and Messrs. F. A. Swarbrick, R. Parr, J. R. Fow, 11. 11. Ilowden, W. Fraser, F. Hawke and G. Boyes (secretary). Reporting on land suitable for sports areas, Mr Boyes said be had inspected bell lands and several of the belt sections were cjuitc suitable so far as configuration was concerned but all of them arc at present leased. He referred io one section of 18 acres 1 rood at the top of Clyde Street, Hamilton East, the lease of which expired in JO months, which was suitable, and another area of 7J acres at the end of Fow Street which was well situated for a sports area if large enough. The report was adopted. Regarding a narrow strip of land ■belonging to the board between the railway crossing in Scddon Road and Ward Street, portion of which the Borough Council desired for road widening purposes, a committee with power to act was appointed to deal with the matter. The llumiflon Amateur Sports Club was granted authority to hold cycling meetings at Steele Park, Hamilton East, on Wednesday evenings during the summer.
A request from the Hamilton Lawn Tennis Glut) to defray the cost of painting Hie club pavilion was declined.
